I love to read – it’s my favorite thing to do when I have down time. I still don’t really know how to work our TV! Thought I would share some of the books and resources I’ve discovered and read (and reread) the past few years. This photo is a sampling – other books I borrowed from friends or the library. I also love the Libby app -some meaningful books I’ve listened to lately are Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Me and White Supremacy by Layla Saad, Traveling with Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd. Layla Saad offers a weekly podcast, Being a Good Ancestor, that I’ve been listening to the past several months.
The Center for Action and Contemplation sends out daily meditation emails, which I’ve been reading for the past decade. Those are like my daily bread. Their podcast, Another Name for Everything, has been life changing for me. The founder of the CAC, Richard Rohr, has authored multiple books that have helped move me along the contemplative path. One of my favorites is Falling Upward. I also started learning about the Enneagram by listening to his audio book about six years ago.
Do Yoga With Me has been influential in my yoga practice. I first tried yoga in my late 20’s and went sporadically to yoga classes at various local studios. In 2015 my sister Molly told me about Do Yoga with Me, and it became easier to prioritize yoga several times a week. Maybe someday I’ll become a certified yoga instructor, but in the meantime yoga helps me with breath work, flexibility, and simultaneously energizes and grounds me.
