Jennifer, Jen, Jenny, JAM, Matty, Big J, Mom. I answer to all of these names. What a gift to have reached the half century mark and have my life filled with people I love, who call me by name.
Obviously, I enjoy writing or else I wouldn’t start this blog. Ten years ago I started another blog, Experiential Passage when we sailed around the globe and worked on Semester at Sea. When I’m not writing, I’m teaching hatha and vinyasa yoga classes. In the past 31 years I’ve worked in corporate university talent acquisition, higher education, taught public school, and owned a web writing business. I’ve been married for over 25 years (!) and I’m a mom to two “big kids.”
I almost always choose spending time in the outdoors if it’s an option, and my home in the Pacific Northwest gives me lots of opportunities to soak up nature (often in the rain!) It’s where I find quietude and can listen to my inner self, the voice of my Wise Woman (as Valarie Kaur describes) My spiritual journey never been linear, but unshakable faith grounds me. One of my favorite quotes that I always come back to, I heard Leonard Pitts say out loud in 2016: “Even if you don’t feel hope, you can always have faith.”
